Location and housing options

Location: Cascade Middle School

The 2023 Portland Orff course is hosted by Evergreen public schools at Cascade Middle School .

(The location changed from Wy’east Middle School due to construction happening this summer.)

Cascade Middle School is a part of our host organization, Evergreen Public Schools, and is located just northeast of Portland in East Vancouver. It is centrally located with access from I-205, is close to a myriad of restaurants and hotels, lots of free parking, and is an easy commute from Portland.

Housing Options

Hotel Options:

Participants may choose to stay at one of the three hotels that are all about two miles from the school. These are the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton, and Residence Inn by Marriott.

2024 rates will be posted when available. We are pleased to partner with the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton for summer 2024. The nightly rate is $159 ($80 per person with double occupancy) plus tax, and includes hot breakfast and a free shuttle up to 5 miles including to and from PDX airport, and a pool and fitness center. We encourage you to book early. We have a block of rooms set aside, and if we need more we can get them at this rate if they still have space. There are additional lower cost hotels about 2 miles from the school NE of I-205 and Mill Plain. Best Western Inn of Vancouver; Extended Stay America; Motel 6; Super 8 Vancouver East.

Other Rental Options: Participants also sometimes choose to rent housing through Air BnB, VRBO, or similar online housing organization. (You will want something with good AC!)

Room Sharing: Homestay options have been very limited, but we do arrange room sharing with other participants. We send out a housing interest form after registration to arrange shared housing.
